I hate it when this happens…

I got a call this afternoon from a Nevada Corporation whom I mistakenly thought was a company I do business with.  When I called the person back a few hours later first, getting through the voice mail prompts was a pain in the butt.  It didn’t work the first 3 times I called back, not until the fourth time did I wise up and just hit the button for new sales, they always answer for new money coming in!  Anyway I then got the person on the phone who tried me earlier and after a few minutes we found out that this was not the company I thought it was but a competitor of theirs.

No biggie.  So, as long as I had them on the phone finally I figured I’d ask about their package offers to make a comparison.  But before I could finish my question, Heather- from “First Web Search” hung up the phone on me! 

From that point on I couldn’t get a live person on the phone no matter what extension or department I clicked on with their stupid voice mail system.

So not only did they just lose me as a potential client but now they pissed me off enough to post a nasty review about them.  It’s bad enough to have one of those ridiculous voice mail systems where you have to push 15 buttons trying to get to someone till you finally think you are there and it asks you to leave a message or simply disconnects you.  But on top of that to finally get a person and ask about their offer and be hung up on because the idiot thinks that since you already use their competition that they cannot compete or get you for another account is the worst possible way to think about business.  I was going to compare them with another website and they could have made the sale at least the one time.  Now though they will never be able to sell to me or my readers.

Don’t you agree that it is way past time these people get a clue and hire someone to answer the phone!  One real live person saying “hello, how may I help you” is worth more than all the voice mail machines in the world put together!  I for one want only to do business with other real people, not machines that don’t work well in the first place.

So, the moral of the story, answer your phone yourself or hire a receptionist / secretary kind of person to do it for you. 

I answer my phone unless I’m on the other line.  Then in that case you’ll get my one answering machine that has no buttons to push.  It simply states that I am on the other line and will get back to you as soon as I can.  Plain, simple, and honest.

Epidemic indifference in all its ugly splendor!

Silk: What is currently happening in Burma is a crystallization of a
collective psychosis that is ravaging our planet. This psychic epidemic,
what I call “malignant egophrenia” pervades the entire field of
consciousness, which is to say it is not localized in one place or
limited in time, in that it exists everywhere in potential at any
moment. What is happening in Burma is a localized, acute outbreak
of a nonlocal, virulent, pathogen that has infected the global body
politic.

The situation in Burma is an out-picturing on the world stage of a
deeper, archetypal process that exists enfolded within the collective
unconscious of our species. What is being played out in Burmais a
living “symbol” of a deeper, mythic process which is currently
en-acting itself in a variety of scenarios around the world.
Being a timeless, archetypal process that has materialized into
our time-bound reality, it can be recognized to be an amplified
version of what can happen or what actually is currently happening
in the U. S., as it becomes more & more a military, police state,
which oppresses the freedom of its citizenry.
The third reich was a personification of this just as was sadam or
milosovic et al.

What is happening in Burma is the latest manifestation of the
underlying psychic epidemic into which our species has fallen
prey, simultaneously revealing the collective psychosis in bold
relief for all who have eyes to see. Something is being revealed
to us through what is materializing in Burma : the underlying
world process, which is also incarnating itself in the Middle East,
in the U. S. & all over the world, is crystallizing itself into
a fully clarified symbol. The situation in Burma is only the
latest iteration of an archetypal process that has played itself
out throughout human history anna knows this only too well.

On the one hand are the Buddhist monks, who are truly revered
by the people of Burma , & who genuinely represent the will of
the people. The monks are devout followers of the Buddha,
“the awakened one,” who taught that “Hatred does not cease by
hatred, but only by love, this is the eternal rule.” The monks
are holding up signs saying things like “Stop Violence” & “We
are compassionate. Why are you killing us?” What clearer
expression do we need to reflect the insanity that pervades
our planet? As if actors in a cosmic play, the Buddhist monks
are re-presenting the role of loving-kindness, of compassion.
They are even carrying a victory banner which reads, “Love &
kindness must win over everything.” While nonviolently
protesting the abuse of power, they are chanting the “Metta Thoke,”
 the “loving-kindness sutra,” which sends out & shares
loving-kindness & its merit to all living beings, including
the militarized government who are oppressing them. They are
literally embodying the very teachings of both Buddha & Christ.

On the other hand is the militaristic government, which represents
the will of the elite few. They rule by force, by “might makes
right.” Whereas the monks embody love, the generals & their minions
represent the ultimate abuse & perversion of power. Seen symbolically,
the militarized government represents the very opposite of both
love & of life itself, which is to say they represent, in full-bodied
form, the archetypal quality of “evil.” An archetypal, timeless drama
is being played out in Burma between the monks & the military, freedom
& oppression, & good & evil. But like Aung San Suu Kyi, the
pro-democracy leader & Nobel laureate says, “There will be change
because all the military have are guns.” People, groups, or nations
who abuse their power over others invariably self-destruct; it is
merely a question of time.

When what is happening in Burma is viewed symbolically & seen as a
dreaming process - as an externalized reflection of something going
on deep inside the collective unconscious of humanity - it is
recognized that the opposites of archetypal good & evil, embodied
in the figures of the monks & the military junta, are completely
polarized & split, encountering each other in living, breathing,
form through the Burmese theater. The very opposites, which animate
the extreme tension in the world psyche, are being played out on
the world stage for all to see, that is for those who will see!

Recognizing what the situation in Burma is “symbolically” revealing
to us is to have an expansion of consciousness. When recognized as
a symbol of the deeper process that is incarnating throughout the
collective body politic, including within ourselves, the horror
that is playing out in Burma can activate our lucidity & help wake
us up. We can only recognize what is symbolically being revealed to
us if we realize that the people in Burma , both the monks & the
military thugs, are not separate from ourselves. To see symbolically
is to recognize that, just like a dream, all characters in the
situation in Burma are interconnected aspects of ourselves. The
energetic expression of our realization is loving-kindness &
compassion for all these various & multiple parts of ourselves.

Having loving-kindness & compassion, however, does not mean doing
nothing. It does not mean that we let abuse happen when we are in
a position to stop it. We should not forget to take what is
happening in Burma “literally” too, which means we should listen
to what the people in Burma , these parts of ourselves are saying:
“Help!” In their cry is a part of ourselves calling for help. Let
us hear their cries, which are none other than our own, & answer.
 

How To Catch A Wild Pig 

Many years ago there was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some Exchangestudents in the class. 

One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man(exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. 

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he hada bullet lodged in his back.  He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government. 

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. 

He asked, “Do you know how to catch wild pigs?” 

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke.  “You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. 

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity. 

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America.  The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms — just a little at a time. 

One should always remember “There is no such thing as a free lunch!” Also, “You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. 

If you see that all of this wonderful government “help” is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America and if you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably ignore this message, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

latest book, “Mexifornia,” explaining how

Moments later, former Colorado Governor
Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a
stunning speech on how to destroy
America.  The audience sat spellbound as
he described eight methods for the destruction of the
United States. 

Greenland Icecap Collapsing at Accelerating Rate

Relax, it’s worse than you think. Much worse.

“The Greenland ice cap is melting so quickly that it is triggering
earthquakes as pieces of ice several cubic kilometres in size break off.”

Yes, this is land-based Greenland icecap, which contains enough water to
raise sea levels worldwide by over 20 feet.

Robert Correll, the chairman of the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment,
states, “We have seen a massive acceleration of the speed with which these
glaciers are moving into the sea. The ice is moving at two metres an hour on
a front 5km [3 miles] long and 1,500 metres deep.”

But again, it’s worse than you think.

“Professor Correll also commented that he had, ’seen gigantic holes in it
through which swirling masses of melt water were falling. I first looked at
this glacier in the 1960s and there were no holes. These so-called moulins,
10 to 15 metres across, have opened up all over the place. There are
hundreds of them.’

The article continues:

“He said ice-penetrating radar showed that this melt water was pouring
through to the bottom of the glacier creating a lake 500 metres deep which
was causing the glacier ‘to float on land. These melt-water rivers are
lubricating the glacier, like applying oil to a surface and causing it to
slide into the sea. It is causing a massive acceleration which could be
catastrophic.’”

But again, it’s worse than you think.

“The glacier is now moving at 15km a year into the sea although in surges it
moves even faster. He measured one surge at 5km in 90 minutes - an
extraordinary event.”

On a more positive note, the magnitude 1 to 3 earthquakes created by
shifting glaciers are apparently nothing to be alarmed about in and of
themselves, but merely indicative of the scale of the changes taking place
in the icecap itself.

Everyone who might be reading this: Yes, I do still think it’s critical to
reduce carbon emissions. But given the titanic range and speed of these
changes, we all need to be looking at the strong possibility that our
coastlines could be inundated in less than a decade. In fact, scientists can
not determine which direction the climate will go in this kind of a
collapse — one serious option is the destruction of the North Atlantic
Current, putting Europe into an ice age and seriously chilling the rest of
the Northern Hemisphere in particular. If that does not happen, or if it is
a relatively minor ice age, it’s still possible that we will have to deal
with a runaway global warming process — an outgassing of the oceans’
methane could be unbelievably catastrophic. (That is to say, worse than a
collapse of human civilization.)

Given that we are apt to see existing lines of transportation come apart on
a relatively short time scale if the Greenland ice sheet continues to
crumble at this accelerating pace, I would suggest combining your carbon
reduction and personal survival goals by, among other things, seeking
alternative energy sources for your present and possible future emergency
needs. I would also suggest encouraging the same thing in your community and
among your family and friends.

Wherever you are, you and your community need energy, food and water to
survive, not to mention shelter, medicine, spare parts and some kind of a
sustainable economy. You should think about what you and those around you
will need in these areas, and about other, longer-term requirements, such as
medical care, education, etc.

I will be posting some more extensive planning options relating to disaster
survival for crises on the scale of one’s nation or civilization, but I
encourage everyone to make their own best plans now, as well as doing
whatever they can to prevent or contain the cataclysmic threats we may soon
be facing.

In October of 2001; my sister started getting very sick. She had stomach
spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major
chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much
pain.

By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was
on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine
what was wrong with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick she just knew
she was dying. She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in
her oldest daughter’s name, and made sure that her younger children were to
be taken care of.

She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically
in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

On March 19 I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said
they didn’t find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS.
I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I asked my sister
if she drank diet soda? She told me that she did. As a matter of fact, she
was getting ready to crack one open that moment.

I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking the diet soda!
I e-mailed her the article my friend, a lawyer, had sent.
My sister called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me
she had stopped drinking the diet soda AND she could walk! The muscle
spasms went away. She said she didn’t feel 100% but she sure felt a lot
better. She told me she was going to her doctor with this article and would
call me when she got home.

Well, she called me, and said her doctor was amazed! He is going to call all
of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind.

In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda…and literally dying a slow and miserable death.

When she got to Florida March 22, all she had to take was one pill, and that
was a pill for the Aspartame poisoning! She is well on her way to a complete
recovery.
And she is walking! No wheelchair! This article saved her life.

I have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE on
“ASPARTAME,” marketed as ‘NutraSweet,’ ‘Equal,’ and ‘Spoonful.’

In the keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States in 2001 there is an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causing this to
be rampant.

I stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.
I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous: When the temperature of this
sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to
formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis.
Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants. The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and
systemic lupus. Many people were being diagnosed in error. Although
multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, Methanol toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually does
not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become a life-threatening condition.

We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off
diet sodas.

In cases of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, most of the symptoms
disappear. We’ve seen many cases where vision loss returned and hearing loss
improved markedly.

This also applies to cases of tinnitus and fibromyalgia.
During a lecture, I said, “If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet, Equal,
Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting,
pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches,
tinnitus, joint pain, unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred
speech, blurred vision, or memory loss you probably have ASPARTAME
poisoning!”
People were jumping up during the lecture saying, “I have some of these
symptoms. Is it reversible?”

Yes! Yes! Yes! STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for Aspartame on food
labels! Many products are fortified with it! This is a serious problem.
Dr. Espart (one of my speakers) remarked that so many people seem to be
symptomatic for MS and during his recent visit to a hospice; a nurse stated
that six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been
diagnosed with MS. This is beyond coincidence!

Diet soda is NOT a diet product! It is a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM
(salt) and ASPARTAME containing product that actually makes you crave
carbohydrates. It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight!

These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells,
particularly in the hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin
and is used primarily to preserve “tissue specimens.” Many products we use
every day contain this chemical but we SHOULD NOT store it IN our body!

Dr. H. J. Roberts stated in his lectures that once e free of the “diet
products” and with no significant increase in exercise; his patients lost an
average of 19 pounds over a trial period.

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics.
We found that some physicians, who believed that they had a patient with
retinopathy, in fact, had symptoms caused by Aspartame.
The Aspartame drives the blood sugar out of control. Thus diabetics may
suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and
phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids
necessary for a good balance.

Treating diabetes is all about BALANCE. Especially with diabetics, the
Aspartame passes the blood/brain barrier and it then deteriorates the neurons
of the brain; causing various levels of brain damage, seizures, depression,
manic depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger and rage.

Consumption of Aspartame causes these same symptoms in non-diabetics as
well.
Documentation and observation also reveal that thousands of children
diagnosed with ADD and ADHD have had complete turnarounds in their behavior
when these chemicals have been removed from their diet. So called “behavior
modification prescription drugs” (Ritalin and others) are no longer needed.
Truth be told, they were never NEEDED in the first place! Most of these
children were being “poisoned” on a daily basis with the very foods that
were “better for them than sugar.”

It is also suspected that the Aspartame in thousands of pallets of diet Coke
and diet Pepsi consumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War, may be
partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.

Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mental retardation,
if taken at the time of conception and during early pregnancy.
Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NEVER
be given artificial sweeteners. There are many different case histories to
relate of children suffering grand mal seizures and other neurological
disturbances talking about a plague of neurological diseases directly caused
by the use of this deadly poison.”

Herein lies the problem:
There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included in 100 different
products and strong objection was made concerning its use. Since this
initial hearing, there have been two subsequent hearings, and still nothing
has been done. The drug and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets and congressmen arte dirty thieves to the lobbyists.

Sadly, MONSANTO’S patent on Aspartame has EXPIRED!
There are now over 5,000 products on the market that contain this deadly
chemical and there will be thousands more introduced. Everybody wants a
“piece of the Aspartame pie.” I assure you that MONSANTO, the creator of
Aspartame, knows how deadly it is.

And isn’t it ironic that MONSANTO funds, among others, the American Diabetes
Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the
American College of Physicians?

This has been recently exposed in the New York Times.
These [organizations] cannot criticize any additives or convey their link
to MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry an d are required
to endorse their products.

Senator Howard Metzenbaum wrote and presented a bill that would require
label warnings on products containing Aspartame, especially regarding
pregnant women, children and infants. The bill would also institute
independent studies on the known dangers and the problems existing in the
general population regarding seizures, changes in brain chemistry,
neurological changes and behavioral symptoms.
The bill was killed.

It is known that the powerful drug and chemical lobbies are responsible for
this, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting and
uninformed public. Well, you’re informed now! YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt,
had the largest middle class in the world,
and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
And now in this great country of mine I have to “press 1″ for English!

What happened?

And you thought those people that set up roomfuls of dominos to
knock over were amazing. There are no computer graphics or digital
tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time
exactly as you see it.

The film took 606 takes. On the first 605 takes, something, usually
very minor, didn’t work. They would then have to set the whole thing up
again. The crew spent weeks shooting night and day. By the time it was
over, they were ready to change professions.

The film cost six million dollars and took three months to complete
including full engineering of the sequence. In addition, it’s two
minutes long so every time Honda airs the film on British television,
they’re shelling out enough dough to keep any one of us in clover for a
lifetime.

However, it is fast becoming the most downloaded advertisement in
Internet history. Honda executives figure the ad will soon pay for
itself simply in “free viewings” (Honda isn’t paying a dime to have you
watch this commercial!).

When the ad was pitched to senior executives, they signed off on it
immediately without any hesitation - including the costs.

There are six and only six hand-made Honda Accords in the world. To
the horror of Honda engineers, the filmmakers disassembled two of them
to make the film.

Everything you see in the film (aside from the walls, floor, ramp,
and complete Honda Accord) is parts from those two cars. ..No, it is not a “Rube Goldberg” creation.

The voiceover is Garrison Keillor. When the ad was shown to Honda
executives, they liked it and commented on how amazing computer graphics have gotten.

They fell off their chairs when they found out it was for real. Oh,
and about those funky windshield wipers. On the new Accords, the
windshield wipers have water sensors and are designed to start doing
their thing automatically as soon as they become wet.

Rich Schefren wrote a fantastic letter on his “Strategic Profits Blog” September 6, 2007 about where you spend your attention and I quote:

“Age of the Attention Hog

Local TV news programs often follow a simple directive:
“If it bleeds, it leads.”

That’s why crime stories and negative news regularly top the daily newscasts. “Bad news” almost always steals our attention.

The “good news” about the church that raised $100,000 for a blind orphan comes much later in the newscast - if it makes the news at all.

Frustrating, isn’t it? Why do the negatives often grab the spotlight from the positives? Why is our attention drawn to negative thoughts and events?

Blame it on the “attention hogs.”

Sept. 11, 2001. It got our attention. Evil terrorist attacks on the United States and the resulting, ongoing war on terrorism. It’s held our attention.

But while fear and bad news often grab the headlines,  our “good news” - perhaps your own marketing message - suffers as a consequence of dastardly “attention hogs.” By capturing and holding attention, these hogs leave little room for other more attention-worthy news.

Just who are these attention hogs?

The list is long and it grows longer by the day…

Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, the late Anna Nicole Smith and Princess Diana. They join the ranks of Monica Lewinsky, Barry Bonds, Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, global warming, Hurricane Katrina, Harry Potter, and the Apple iPhone on our impromptu list.

They are all persons or entities that have won our attention, for better or worse, in the Attention Age.

Not all will hold a treasured place in our memories. In fact, many may be fading as we speak, but they still receive attention. At least for a moment - usually more - and just long enough for us to emotionally brand our brains.

Our attention is a scarce resource, and so is the attention of the marketplace. How we allocate our own attention really matters.

But there are those “attention hogs” among us who are trying to steal more bandwidth. They want real estate in our brains, and with the help of technology and mass media, many have left their mark forever.

Attention hogs not only suck your attention, but they make it more difficult for your own marketing to be successful. In essence, we are all competing with Paris Hilton and the terrorists for attention.

When people are paying attention to them, they’re not paying attention to you and your products.

Terrorism is clearly an instrument of attention-getting cowardice. Osama bin Laden is known worldwide as a terrorist mastermind. His name and face are synonymous with terrorism. Bin Laden’s acts of terror have made an emotional connection in our brain. He captures that much of our attention, as we

hope to capture him.

Far from the only evil “hog” in this Attention Age, Bin Laden is joined by the Virginia Tech killer - no name is necessary - as having successfully seared his image and actions in our brain. The tragic events at Virginia Tech in 2007 and the 33 people killed will long be remembered, even if the name of the killer is soon forgotten.

Why do we know or care about Paris Hilton? How do we know about Lindsay Lohan’s progress in rehab? What about Anna Nicole Smith or the intimate details and tragic turns in Princess Diana’s life and death?

All are celebrity-driven drains on our attention, with two receiving more attention in death than the considerable attention they had already received in life.

Why? Because we allow them to take hold of our attention and keep a piece of it for themselves.

Barry Bonds sets a home run record, but we pay more attention to rumors of “performance-enhancement drugs.” Monica Lewinsky becomes infamous for an adulterous affair with President Bill Clinton. Her last name becomes a slang term for oral sex. Now, that’s attention.

Hurricane Katrina is a metaphor for natural disaster, hope and recovery. Global warming straddles the line between hoax and reality. Oprah is Oprah. Harry Potter is a book-selling, movie-making wizard. And the iPhone becomes the “next big thing.”

All claim attention, all are attention hogs. They hold themselves up as “winners” in the Attention Age.

The losers? Anyone who pays too much attention to any one or all of these winners. They are not all worthy of that much attention, but they get it just the same.

Remember: What we give them in attention, we can never reclaim as our own.

So let me ask you this: What are you receiving from all of the attention you freely give?

In other words… What is your “return on attention” - your personal ROA - from the attention you so willingly pay to the attention hogs?

Create a list of the “good” and “bad” attention hogs in your life.

Tell us what you demand in return from each attention hog and how you will make them earn your attention in the future.

Let’s discover new ways to channel our attention, fight off the hogs, and help our businesses grow.”
